The Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission (PCSRC) and the Ghana Police Service have initiated a joint enforcement operation around Danquah Circle in Accra, targeting delivery riders operating without the required permits and documentation.
According to footage and reports from the scene, several motorbikes were seized and loaded onto trucks as part of the exercise. Riders at the location expressed frustration, complaining that the operation was being carried out without adequate explanations or clear guidance on how to comply with the new regulations.
This action forms part of broader efforts to regulate Ghana’s rapidly expanding courier and logistics sector. In March 2026, the government launched the Integrated Courier and Logistics Management System – Ghana (iCOLMS-GH), a digital platform designed to register and monitor courier companies and individual delivery riders.
A similar crackdown in August 2025 led to the seizure of hundreds of motorbikes and clashes between riders and officials, prompting the minister to temporarily suspend the operation and call for enforcement to be carried out with a “humane face.”
The current operation at Danquah Circle appears to signal the resumption of active enforcement following the expiry of the latest deadline. Authorities aim to bring order, improve safety standards, and protect consumers in the booming delivery industry, which has seen significant growth in recent years.
Riders have voiced concerns over the intensity of the crackdown and the lack of sufficient public education on the registration process and requirements.
This story is developing, with more details expected as the operation continues across Accra and potentially nationwide.
