Afrobeats superstar Davido has officially confirmed that his long-awaited joint album with American R&B icon Chris Brown is slated for release in 2027.
The Nigerian singer made the revelation during a recent appearance on the Swift Conversations podcast (hosted by Adesope Olajide) while in Paris.
Speaking about his evolving sound, Davido noted his current focus on more African-inclined music and working with his core producers from home. However, he made it clear that international collaborations remain very much on the table.
“The music I am making now is very African. In this next project, I am working with a lot of my original producers from back home. However, I am still an American, so definitely there’s going to be collaborations. Me and Chris Brown got an album coming next year,” he stated.
Some reports quote him adding “hopefully at the end of next year,” marking the first time a specific timeframe has been attached to the project, which has been teased since 2023.
Davido and Chris Brown first joined forces on the 2019 hit “Blow My Mind”, which helped bridge Afrobeats and R&B globally. They have since collaborated on several tracks, including “Shopping Spree,” “Nobody Needs To Know,” “Hmm,” and the 2023 hit “Sensational” featuring Lojay — which peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a Grammy nomination.
Fans have long anticipated a full joint project, with reports suggesting the duo already have enough material recorded for multiple albums.
The confirmation comes as Davido continues to solidify his position as a global force, fresh off electrifying performances including at Coachella 2026.
No album title, tracklist, or exact release date within 2027 has been revealed yet, but the news has already generated massive excitement across social media, with many describing it as a potential culture-shifting collaboration.
The project is expected to blend Davido’s high-energy Afrobeats rhythms with Chris Brown’s smooth R&B and melodic versatility.
Stay tuned for more updates as the two superstars prepare to deliver what promises to be one of the biggest crossover albums in recent years.
