Kisa Gbekle says she is off the dating scene and has no plans to change that anytime soon, insisting she finds little value in a relationship that offers nothing beyond physical intimacy.
Speaking on UTV’s Atuu programme with Nana Romeo, the Ghanaian actress pushed back on the idea that she is missing out by being single. When the conversation turned to what a partner could add to her life, she made it clear she is unconvinced.
Although the host argued that companionship plays a vital role in relationships, Gbekle did not share that view. As a mother, she says the emotional presence often associated with a partner is something she already experiences at home.
Simple gestures like daily check-ins, which many consider a hallmark of romantic connection, are not new to her. She explained that her son already fills that space in a way she finds meaningful, leaving her with no urgency to seek out a partner.
That said, she is not completely closed off to love. Gbekle noted that she would consider marriage if the right person comes along, particularly someone with genuine intentions. What she has ruled out, however, is anything casual.
She explained that she has lived through that phase before and even had a child from it, making it a path she is unwilling to revisit. At this point, her expectations have shifted firmly toward commitment.
If marriage enters the picture, she says it will come with clear boundaries rooted in her faith. She stressed that abstinence before marriage is non-negotiable, arguing that many men are primarily interested in short-term encounters.
“I am single but not searching. If I get a man, what would the person do for me aside sexual intercourse? ‘How are you, I’m fine. How did you sleep? My son does that every day.’ If God permits and I get someone who wants to marry me, I will go for it.
“But for just casual sexual intercourse, because I’ve done that several times and given birth from it, I’m not interested in all of those things again,” Kisa Gbekle stated.
