The District Chief Executive for Nkoranza North, in the Bono East Region, Hon. Effah Patrick, has urged Basic Education Certificate Examination [BECE] candidates in the district to see the exam as a step forward, not the end of their education.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Fabea FM’s Apiah-Kubi on the program Me Man Ho Dadwen, Hon. Effah Patrick said completing Junior High School is only one stage in the education cycle.

“You have just ended at a certain stage of education. This means you are preparing for a further stage, which is Senior High School,” he told candidates ahead of the exams.

The DCE expressed confidence in the students’ preparation, noting that the BECE questions are clear and manageable.

He said the candidates had written mock exams similar to the final papers and encouraged them to rely on what their teachers had taught them.

Hon. Effah Patrick also cautioned both students and teachers against examination malpractice.

He warned that candidates caught cheating risk having their results cancelled, and appealed to teachers to refrain from providing answers during the exams.

“Any country that plays with its education mostly becomes underdeveloped. The form of education today is different from the olden days. Use the little effort you can, make judicious use of what you can write, and desist from exam malpractices,” he said.

He further highlighted the Free Senior High School policy, which he said has been strengthened under President John Dramani Mahama.

He described it as a vital contribution to Ghana’s education system and urged candidates to take full advantage of it to advance their academic careers.

The BECE in Nkoranza North commenced with officials visiting centres to offer moral support and monitor the process.

Hon. Effah Patrick concluded by wishing the candidates well and expressing hope for strong results that would make the district proud.
