AHAFO RCC CONVENES FIRST STATUTORY MEETING TO ADVANCE REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AGENDA

The Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council (AhRCC) has held its first statutory meeting for the year 2025 at the RCC’s main Conference Hall in Goaso. The meeting was chaired by the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Mrs. Charity Gardiner.

The high level session brought together Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCES), Presiding Members, Coordinating Directors, Heads of Government Institutions, representatives from the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, development partners, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders.

Delivering her keynote address, Hon. Charity Gardiner outlined a renewed vision for the region, anchored on inclusive development, job creation, peace and stability, improved service delivery, and strengthened collaboration with stakeholders. Her vision aligns with President John Mahama’s national agenda of “Resetting Ghana for Jobs, Accountability, and Prosperity.”

The meeting featured sectoral updates across critical areas such as the economy, infrastructure, agriculture, energy, health, roads, disaster management, water and sanitation, education, security and more. Stakeholders were also briefed on ongoing interventions, achievements, and future policy directions aimed at accelerating development in the region.

The Ahafo Regional Health Director, Dr. Akosua Agyeiwaa Owusu-Sarpong, delivered a detailed presentation on the prevalence and containment of HIV and other diseases in the region. Additionally, the Regional Education Director, NEDCO Manager, and other institutional heads provided insights into their respective sectors, emphasizing the crucial roles of stakeholders in supporting the region’s economic transformation. Several other presentations were delivered, offering valuable data and strategic input.

 

The session concluded with an open forum, where participants shared perspectives, identified developmental gaps, and proposed actionable solutions to drive regional growth. Hon. Charity Gardiner commended participants for their active involvement and reiterated the need for unity of purpose in delivering on the region’s shared development goals in line with the President’s agenda.
