‘Jandam Communicator’— Shamima Muslim clashes with Musah-Saaka over real prices of commodities

clashed over the prices of goods and services

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim clashed with Lawuratu Musah-Saaka, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, over the prices of goods and services in the country during the Tuesday, August 5, 2025 edition of the Good Morning Show.

During the panel discussion on Metro TV, Shamima Muslim described some NPP communicators as “jandam propaganda communicators,” who are doing all they can to discount the strides the country has made so far under the John Dramani Mahama government.

The term “jandam is used to describe a type of journalism perceived as deceptive or manipulative.

The Deputy Presidential Spokesperson stated that despite Ghanaians attesting to a reduction in the prices of goods and services, NPP communicators are channeling out false narratives to claim that prices are getting worse.

“Even with agricultural products that are seasonal, we are seeing marginal drops in prices. We have seen videos of market women themselves speak about how they have lowered the price of their goods and services,” she said

Lawuratu Musah-Saaka took issue with Shamima’s use of the phrase “jandam propaganda communicator,” accusing her of personalizing the discussion.

“Shamima can sit here and use all kinds of adjectives on me. Call me dishonest. But, fundamentally, it takes one to know one,” she retorted,

She insisted that prices of some items are not reducing in all markets, as asserted by proponents of the government, claiming that the price of kenkey has increased to GH¢7.

The Deputy Presidential Spokesperson interjected, saying that there is nowhere in Ghana where kenkey is sold at GH¢7 to

The Deputy Presidential Spokesperson interjected, saying that there is nowhere in Ghana where kenkey is sold at GH¢7 to ordinary Ghanaians.

The two then started engaging in a shouting contest, with each defending her stance.

This forced the host of the show to intervene, but her intervention did not sit well with the NPP communicator.
