arts of the Nsawam-Pokuase road were rendered impassable due to significant flooding caused by a downpour that occurred between the night of Tuesday, August 5, and the morning of Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The rainfall flooded much of the road, causing traffic to halt and numerous vehicles to almost submerge, making it unbearable for road users to commute to work on Wednesday’s early morning.
Commuters were left stranded, several cars were partially submerged while others emitted vapour as a result of the engine overheating, drivers were forced to drive through the stagnant water due to the poor nature of the road which is still under construction.
The road is the only route linking Pokuase and Nsawam to Accra.
Videos shared on social media depict the deplorable nature of the road with many Ghanaians calling on government to complete the construction of the road to prevent such dangers.
One user said: “We need the government’s intervention on this road seriously.
Another tweeted: “Pokuase to Nsawam is a nightmare bro, especially when in trotro.”
“It’s been over 7 months since they sacked the contractors from site, this is what the ordinary Ghanaian goes through on the Ofankor -Pokuase stretch,” a post read.
