Mpox cases now 328

Ghana has confirmed twenty-six more new cases of Mpox as of August 3, bringing the total to 328.

According to the situational report (SITREP) released by the Ghana Health Service on August 9, there are no patients on admission, while death toll remains one.

The SITREP further noted that surveillance remains heightened.

Mpox is a characterized by symptoms such as fever, headache, swollen glands and a distinctive rash.

The general public is still encouraged to avoid close contact with anyone who has a rash, wash their hands often and visit a health facility if they don’t feel well.

Symptoms
* Fever
* Headache
* Muscle aches
* Backache
* Swollen lymph nodes
* Chills
* Exhaustion
* Rash that progresses through several stages before healing

Prevention
* Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of Mpox
* Wash hands regularly with soap and water or use hand sanitizer
* Use protective equipment when caring for an infected person
* Avoid contact with animals that may carry the virus
