The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with an armed robbery incident that occurred at Spintex, Accra, in the early hours of September 14, 2025.
According to the Director-General of the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, the police received a report about a robbery at the residence of a 35-year-old man around 3:25 a.m.
Two armed men allegedly broke into the home and made away with several valuable items, including gold jewelry, a laptop, wristwatches, handbags, clothing, and a total of $5,000 and GHS21,645 in cash.
Officers who visited the crime scene retrieved a machete, a metal cutter, and a T-shirt believed to have been left behind by the suspects. The scene was documented and a full-scale investigation was launched immediately.
Following days of intelligence-led operations, police arrested Prince Opoku, also known as “Agyenkwa,” and Nigerian national Jennifer Nweke on September 18 at Adenta. A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of some of the stolen items, including jewelry, mobile phones, and large sums of money.
The suspects later led police investigators to a hideout at Abokobi, where additional stolen items belonging to the complainant were recovered.
During interrogation, Prince Opoku admitted his involvement in the robbery and identified one Mensah, alias “Taller,” as his accomplice and the leader of the operation.
COP Donkor stated that “strenuous efforts are currently underway to trace and arrest other suspects who are currently on the run to face justice.”
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of its commitment to bringing all perpetrators involved in the case to book and urged anyone with relevant information to assist in the ongoing investigations.
