No evidence of diarrhoea outbreak — Gomoa East Health officials clarify

The Gomoa East District Health Directorate has denied reports of a diarrhoea outbreak in the district, dismissing claims that more than 20 cases had been linked to water supply disruptions.

In a statement signed by Mercy Dennis Yamoah, Senior Human Resource Manager, on behalf of the District Director of Health Service, the Directorate insisted that no such outbreak has been recorded.

“We can affirm that no such cases were reported at the Fetteh CHPS Compound on Friday, September 19, 2025, as erroneously stated,” the statement clarified.

The Directorate explained that while there is currently an acute disruption in potable water supply, it has not escalated into a public health emergency.

“This challenge has not culminated in any public health emergency. The Health Directorate, in collaboration with local authorities and partner agencies, continues to implement robust measures to uphold sanitation and hygiene standards within our health facilities and communities,” the release noted.

It further stressed that disease monitoring systems remain active.

“Our disease surveillance infrastructure remains fully operational, with routine monitoring mechanisms engaged across all sub-districts. At present, there is no epidemiological evidence to suggest the emergence of any waterborne disease cluster within the district.”

The Directorate urged the media and public to verify health information before publishing or circulating it.

“Misinformation not only undermines public trust but can also cause unnecessary fear and alarm within communities,” the statement warned.
