Fameye recounts how his friend made him sleep at a train station in France

It’s easy to look at the glitz of a successful music career and forget the grit it took to get there.

For Ghanaian Highlife sensation Fameye, a recent interview on Onua Show Time served as a vulnerable reminder that even the biggest stars have faced moments of total isolation.

Speaking on April 14, 2026, the “Nothing I Get” hitmaker revealed the harrowing inspiration behind his latest single, “Traveller.”

The song isn’t just a melody; it’s a sonic document of the “abroad struggle” that many West Africans face but few talk about openly.

Fameye recounted a particularly stinging memory from his first trip to Europe. Like many embarking on their first international journey, he relied on the word of a friend.

This individual had promised to meet him at the airport and provide a place to stay, boasting of a spacious home with plenty of room.

The reality, however, was a cold wake-up call; Upon landing, the “friend” stopped answering calls entirely.

With no backup plan and nowhere to go, Fameye found himself homeless in a foreign land.

He spent the night sleeping at a train station in France, an experience he says sparked a profound, painful longing for the safety of Ghana.

“I was stranded… That moment made me miss Ghana,” he shared, reflecting on the isolation of being in a country where the language and the streets felt equally unwelcoming.
