Twenty-seven communities in the Nkoranza North District Constituency have been connected to the national electricity grid through the facilitation of Hon. Joseph Kwasi Mensah, the Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North in the Bono East Region.

The intervention, according to the MP, is expected to improve the living conditions of residents by providing access to electricity for domestic use, income-generating activities, education, and healthcare.

Hon. Mensah, in an interview with Fabea FM’s Apiah-Kubi on Me Man Ho Dadwen, reaffirmed his commitment to lobbying the Ministry of Energy to connect additional communities to the national grid for the first time, including Abirekyirekrom, Otumfuor Farms, Anafuor, and Asuoti.

The power extension will also go to communities such as Kranka, Baafi, Dwenewoho, Bono Manso, and Sikaa.

“I am not going to sleep at all until every household has access to electricity,” he said, stressing the need to safeguard the infrastructure and residents.

The MP described the project as a step toward improving livelihoods and spurring local economic growth.
He explained that the project operates on a cost-sharing arrangement, with the government providing the materials while he covers construction and distribution costs.

“I started lobbying during the NPP administration and was asked to bear the construction costs so the government could provide the materials. Because of the urgent need for my constituents to get electricity, I agreed,” Hon. Mensah stated.
