The Ghana Police Service in Asankrangwa has arrested five individuals in connection with an armed robbery attack on a Chinese businessman in the area.
According to police reports, the suspects stormed a spare parts shop at Malta and robbed the victims of three mobile phones and a whopping GH¢200,000 in cash.
Following a swift response, police pursued the suspects and intercepted their vehicle at the Sumpre checkpoint.
Four of the suspects were immediately arrested, and a significant portion of the stolen money, along with firearms and other items, was recovered.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had traveled all the way from Obuasi to carry out the robbery.
Authorities have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down any remaining members of the gang.
The arrest brings some relief to the community, which has been on edge following the incident.
