President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has admitted that what happened to the Black Stars and their management in Brazil soiled the image of Ghana.

However, he believes that the country has moved past it and has learned lessons to make things better.

He says his government will not oversee a repeat as the country goes for the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico.

The President spoke to Gary Al Smith of Sporty FM in Accra.

He said, “Brazil 2014 World Cup fiasco dented Ghana’s reputation, but that is all behind us now. We’ve encouraged the GFA to ensure that we are able to process the payments that are due to the players as quickly as possible.”

The president urged football handlers in Ghana to ensure transparency and discipline going forward.
