In a response dated 14 January 2026, the Association says it was stunned by the NSA’s 7 January notice, warning that the decision carries serious consequences for aquatics development nationwide.
The Ghana swimming association argues that the national sports authority {NSA} failed to observe procedures set out in the sports regulations, 2023, insisting no clear legal justification was provided for the withdrawal.
It says claims of irregularities and an unsatisfactory response were vague and unsupported by specific breaches of the law.
The association also maintains that the NSA’s powers are rooted solely in Ghanaian legislation and cannot depend on the position of any international federation.
Further, the GSA accuses the NSA of denying it the right to appeal by omitting the option of petitioning the sports minister, a requirement under Regulation 19.
Beyond the legal issues, the association warns the decision could derail years of investment, including the Borteyman aquatics Centre and Ghana’s hosting rights for major African swimming championships in 2026.
