Ghanaian actor Kwaku Manu has expressed concern over what he describes as excessive spending habits among many young people, urging them to embrace discipline and sacrifice if they want to achieve financial success.

The Kumawood actor made the remarks while speaking at a birthday gathering organised for businessman Ernest Ofori Sarpong at the Despite Auto Museum.

His comments came in response to public criticism surrounding the lavish gifts presented by businessman Osei Kwame Despite and his associates during the celebration.

According to Kwaku Manu, many of the people criticising wealthy individuals for spending on luxury items are themselves failing to manage their own finances properly.

“If you are a young person, try to limit how you enjoy life,” he said. “You earn less than GH¢3,000, yet every weekend you’re out chilling.”

The actor further broke down his point using simple financial comparisons, arguing that consistent unnecessary spending makes it difficult to accumulate wealth.

“Let’s say you spend GH¢500 each week, how do you expect to become wealthy?” he asked. “You can’t become wealthy without sacrifice, sometimes even going hungry.”

Kwaku Manu stressed that building wealth is a gradual process that requires discipline, patience, and wise financial choices rather than constant spending on entertainment and luxury.

His comments have since sparked discussions online, with some social media users agreeing with his perspective on financial discipline, while others argued that people should also enjoy life while working hard.
