Reverend Dr. Kwadwo Boateng Bempah, Head Pastor of the Holy Hill Chapel Assemblies of God, has sparked a heated debate after a bold statement he made during Sunday service on May 3, 2026.
During his sermon on faith and devotion about putting God first in all things, the clergyman declared that he would never use his tithe money to help someone in a life-threatening situation, not even if that person was dying.
“Me, my tithe. If you are dying, you will die. I won’t give you, because if I give you, I would join you to die,” he said.
According to Rev. Bempah, giving his tithe to God takes priority over every other need, including saving a loved one’s life.
He explained that his faith teaches him to place God above all things, family, friends, and even emergencies.
In his view, divine intervention through prayer is the proper response, not redirecting what belongs to God.
The statement has since gone viral, with social media users split down the middle.
Some have defended the pastor, arguing that the tithe is sacred and shouldn’t be used for anything other than its intended purpose.
Others, however, have called his comments extreme and lacking in basic human compassion.
Since then, the church has not issued any additional clarification on the pastor’s remarks.
