In a trending video from his church service, popular Ghanaian pastor Rev. Obofour has warned his members to get ready for serious power outages following the recent fire at the Akosombo substation.

The Anointed Palace Chapel leader told his congregation plainly: “Akosombo is burnt, so prepare yourself for frequent power outages and get your fans and solar.” He was seen gesturing strongly on stage as he spoke about the situation affecting many Ghanaians.

Rev. Obofour also used the moment to call out some fellow pastors, saying they are more focused on talking about Israel than addressing the real problems people are facing at home with electricity.

The clip has sparked plenty of reactions online, with many agreeing that the country needs practical solutions as the power situation worsens. The fire at the GRIDCo facility in Akosombo has been linked to the latest round of blackouts in parts of Accra and other areas.

Ghanaians are once again bracing for the familiar “dumsor” troubles, and the pastor’s message is being seen by some as a timely reminder to rely on personal preparations like solar power while hoping for better from the authorities.
