The Commander of the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Operations Team, DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil, has expressed appreciation to the people of Northern Ghana for their cooperation and support during the team’s deployment to the Northern Region to combat rising criminal activities.

In November 2025, following growing public concern over increasing incidents of armed robbery, vehicle theft, drug-related crimes, and attacks targeting traders and mobile money vendors, the Inspector-General of Police deployed a Special Operations Team to the Northern Region to help restore law and order. DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil was tasked with leading the mission.

According to DSP Abdul Jalil, the team arrived with a clear mandate: to serve the people and help restore calm and confidence within communities that had become increasingly worried about their safety.

He noted that the team carried out its duties with dedication and professionalism, working tirelessly to confront criminal networks and reinforce public security across the region.

“During our operations, we encountered several challenges, including resistance from criminal elements and other pressures that often emerge when crime is being confronted decisively,” he stated. “However, our commitment remained firm because our mission was to protect the many and restore peace to affected communities.”

DSP Abdul Jalil emphasized that service in law enforcement is often demanding and requires sacrifice, but the team remained focused on its mandate to safeguard lives and property.

He indicated that through sustained operations and collaboration with local stakeholders, the Special Operations Team contributed to restoring calm in communities where fear had previously taken root.

“As our mission comes to an end, we leave with the satisfaction that we stood with the people in their time of need,” he said. “The work of protecting society continues, and history will always judge our actions by where we stood when peace required defenders.”

DSP Abdul Jalil expressed gratitude to residents, community leaders, and all partners who supported the team’s efforts during the period of deployment.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to continue working with communities to ensure lasting peace and security across the Northern Region.
