GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi Not Linked to Women of Valor London Sponsorship — Partnership Tied to PMMC Jewellery

Independent checks by Ghana Independent News indicate that the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) did not sponsor this year’s Women of Valor event in London, and that the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, had no involvement whatsoever in the sponsorship arrangement.

Multiple verifiable sources confirm that the commercial partnership associated with the event was undertaken by PMMC Jewelry (now GoldBod Jewellery) — the jewellery manufacturing and marketing brand originally established under the Precious Minerals Marketing Company to promote Ghana’s refined gold jewellery and value-addition industry on international platforms.

Industry observers say the participation formed part of broader efforts to market Ghana’s refined gold and locally manufactured jewellery to global audiences, particularly within premium diaspora and luxury markets such as London. The strategy reflects a growing emphasis on value addition in Ghana’s gold sector, shifting the narrative from the export of raw gold to the promotion of finished Ghanaian jewellery products with higher international market value.

Sources emphasise that the engagement was strictly a commercial brand-promotion initiative tied to PMMC Jewelry (now GoldBod Jewellery) and should not be construed as a sponsorship by GoldBod as an institution or by its CEO. The initiative instead highlights Ghana’s emerging ambition to position its refined jewellery and gold craftsmanship competitively within the global luxury market.
