                  Valentino Nii Noi Nortey

A family member of the wife of former NPP Klottey Korle parliamentary candidate, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, has disclosed that he threatened to kill her after she asked for a divorce.

Narrating the incident to 3News, the spokesperson of the wife’s family, David Gyapanin, indicated that after a disagreement in their home in Pennsylvania in the United States, Nii Noi stated that he would kill himself or his wife for threatening to end the marriage.

He then allegedly drew a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her multiple times in the rib and stomach.

“…Nii Noi said he would either kill himself or kill her. He went downstairs, and she quickly locked the door. He, however, came back upstairs with a knife and broke the door. He tried to stab her in the neck, but she shielded it with her hands, and he ended up stabbing her in the rib area and stomach,” the uncle alleged.

Mr Gyapanin further disclosed that Nii Noi Nortey only allowed her to leave and receive medical care after she assured him that she would not press charges. He added that she is in stable condition after undergoing surgery on the injured areas.

The family of Nii Noi’s wife expressed shock at the development and questioned the mental state of the former parliamentary candidate. David Gyapanin indicated that the couple’s five children have been separated and are currently being taken care of by family members.

“We are still in shock as to why Nii Noi would do such a thing. We are trying to question his mental health because I don’t see why a lady says she is no longer interested in a marriage, and you want to take her life.

“The family is still trying to come to terms with what has happened, especially looking at incidents happening in other jurisdictions.

“We pray justice will be delivered,” he added.

Meanwhile, the family of Nii Noi Nortey is yet to comment on the development.

    Background

Former New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle constituency, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, has reportedly been taken into prison custody after being denied bail by the Dauphin County District Magistrate Court in Pennsylvania, United States of America.

According to a report by abc27, the 41-year-old was arrested on Saturday, January 17, 2026, as confirmed by the Lower Paxton Township Police, and was subsequently charged with attempted homicide, possessing an instrument of crime with intent to use, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

Dauphin County Police picked up Nii Noi Nortey after his wife was stabbed during what they described as a domestic incident, which occurred in the morning along Mayfair Drive in Lower Paxton Township.

The report further stated that the former Klottey Korle parliamentary candidate was remanded into prison custody after being denied bail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Monday, January 26, 2026.
