Calm has been restored at Nsuaem in the Western Region after an angry mob attacked the Nsuaem Police Station on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

According to the Western Central Regional Police Command, the attack followed the arrest of a 25-year-old man, Sulley Moses, who was accused of attempting to lure two children aged seven and five.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was seen by the roadside near Nivo Filling Station conversing with the children,” the police said. “When the children confirmed that he had forcibly held one of them, we detained him for further questioning.”

Soon after the arrest, a mob of about 500 people stormed the station, demanding the suspect’s release. The crowd reportedly blocked the Takoradi–Tarkwa highway, set tyres ablaze, and pelted stones at police officers, damaging vehicles and parts of the station building.

Police say reinforcements, with support from the military, were deployed to disperse the crowd and restore order. “Three police officers and four civilians sustained injuries and were treated at the Nsuaem Government Hospital,” the statement added.

The suspect has since been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Headquarters for further investigation, while officers at Nsuaem have been relocated and the station temporarily closed.

“The Western Central Regional Police Command strongly condemns the attack and assures the public that all perpetrators will be identified, arrested, and brought to justice,” said Assistant Superintendent of Police Beatrice Turkson, Head of the Public Affairs Unit.
