Survey shows NDC ahead of NPP in youth and education

Dzifa Gunu, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Digital Centres Limited and a seasoned public relations specialist, has sparked fresh political debate with a recent social media post highlighting survey findings by pollster Mussa Dankwah.

According to the research, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) boasts more young people and better-educated individuals serving as branch executives compared to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The data shared paints a revealing picture of the demographic and educational profile of delegates within the two major political parties.

For instance, while the NPP has a significant number of its branch executives with Junior High School education, the NDC outpaces them at the Senior High School level, recording 37% compared to NPP’s 19%.

Similarly, when it comes to tertiary education, the NPP appears slightly ahead with 28% of its delegates, while the NDC follows closely with 22%.

However, the narrative shifts when age distribution is considered. A greater proportion of the NDC’s delegates fall within the youthful age bracket, particularly those below 44 years, where the party commands an impressive 64% as against the NPP’s 26%.

For Gunu, these findings are more than just numbers; they signal the vibrancy and attractiveness of the NDC, particularly among Ghana’s youth and educated population.

In his words, this affirms the NDC as “Ghana’s most attractive political party,” a claim that speaks directly to the party’s ability to connect with younger generations and those with formal education backgrounds.

The post has since drawn attention not only for the statistics but also for what it suggests about the evolving face of political participation in Ghana.
