The Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Adam Abubakari Takoro has assured residents of an imminent improvement in water supply following ongoing repair works at the Nawuni water intake.

According to the Mayor, addressing the persistent water crisis in the metropolis has remained a top priority since assuming office, with interim measures such as water tanker services already deployed to support affected communities.

During a visit to Nawuni, the Mayor, together with the Regional Chief Manager of the Ghana Water Company Limited, Stephen Amihere Mensah, inspected ongoing rehabilitation works at the intake facility.

The inspection revealed that the pumps, which were installed in 1972, have significantly deteriorated over time, contributing to the current supply challenges.

The Mayor noted that through the intervention of the Managing Director of the company, Adam Mutawakilu, critical spare parts have been procured and are currently being installed.

He expressed optimism that the repairs will stabilize water supply in the short term, while efforts continue toward a more sustainable, long-term solution.

Residents are expected to experience improved water flow in the coming days.
