Court warns against moving Daddy Lumba’s body amidst legal battle over funeral rights

The Kumasi High Court has warned the head of the late Daddy Lumba’s family, Mr. Kofi Owusu, and his associates, cautioning them against attempting to move the musician’s body from the Transition Funeral Home in Haatso while a lawsuit over funeral and widowhood rights is still ongoing.

In a statement released on October 16, 2025, the family of the late highlife legend, led by his widow Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh and his elder sister Ms. Ernestina Fosuh, reaffirmed their trust in the court process and urged all parties to respect the law.

“No person or group including Mr. Kofi Owusu and his associates, has the lawful right to claim or remove the body of the deceased from the funeral home,” the release stated, warning that any such act would constitute “a violation of ongoing court proceedings” and attract serious legal consequences.

The family expressed confidence that “truth and justice will prevail,” emphasizing that the case is not only about their brother but also about protecting “the rights of women and lawful spouses in Ghana.”

The matter, which seeks to establish the legal authority of Mrs. Fosuh as the rightful spouse to perform the widowhood rites, has been adjourned to October 28, 2025, for a possible judgment.
