Vice-President Jane Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed her belief that women’s empowerment is central to national progress, emphasizing that supporting women yields benefits that ripple through families, communities, and the entire country.
Speaking to Ghanaian students and professionals during her engagement with the Ghanaian Association in Iowa, the Vice-President said, “When women are supported, the positive impact extends to families, communities, and the entire nation.”
She urged Ghanaian students abroad to recognize the value of their education and to find ways to contribute to the country’s growth.
“I encouraged them to give back to their country in whatever way possible,” she said. “Ghana will always be a home to them.”
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also highlighted the strength of Ghana’s educational system, describing it as a solid foundation that continues to prepare citizens for excellence worldwide.
“Our educational system remains one of our greatest assets,” she noted.
“It has produced men and women who are excelling globally, and that should inspire pride and responsibility.”
She further reminded her audience that every Ghanaian, regardless of their background or circumstance, has something meaningful to contribute.
“Every Ghanaian has something valuable to offer toward our development,” she emphasized.
