Takoradi Harbour: Scrap dealers demand GH¢330,000 refunds from NDC after operations halted

Some scrap dealers in Takoradi, claiming to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), are demanding refunds of GH¢330,000 each from party executives after their scrap operations at the Takoradi railway station were halted by National Security personnel.

The aggrieved dealers allege that they paid the money to certain NDC officials to secure permission to scrap 100 tons of railway materials located at the Takoradi Harbour.

Their operations were stopped on Wednesday, November 5, when National Security officers intervened, insisting that the materials were not authorised for scrapping.

Alhaji Razak, one of the dealers who said he paid GH¢330,000 to Effia NDC Constituency Chairman Seidu Adams, claimed the group was misled into believing the scrap had been legally approved for sale.

The dealers now plan to petition the NDC Regional Executives, demanding either a full refund or access to the materials.
