A 42-year-old man, Bismark Yaw Sarfo Danso, widely known as Yaw Danso, has been brutally killed during a late-night robbery at his home at Asonkore SSNIT, a suburb of Obuasi.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, December 13, 2025.
According to his wife, Comfort Mensah, the deceased, an AngloGold Ashanti employee based in Guinea, had returned to Ghana about two weeks earlier for a short visit and was preparing to travel back to work.
She recounted that around 1:30 a.m., Yaw Danso’s younger brother knocked on their door, claiming he was unwell and needed medication.
She believes this was a ploy used by the attackers to gain entry.
The moment her husband opened the door, he was struck on the head by one of the assailants, sustaining fatal injuries.
Madam Mensah said she ran into the washroom to raise alarm but was overpowered, tied up, and threatened by the attackers.
The robbers went on to steal GHS2,600, two laptops, two mobile phones, two Bluetooth speakers, and the keys to the deceased’s car before fleeing.
The deceased’s younger brother has since been arrested and is assisting police with investigations.
A distraught Comfort Mensah has appealed to the Inspector General of Police to ensure that justice is served and those responsible are arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
