Ghanaian musician Akwaboah has responded to his critics following intense criticism for a recent social media photo.
The Highlife celebrity uploaded a picture of himself in a baggy suit on August 22, 2025. Because of his substantial weight reduction and what many called a “sickly” appearance, the picture went viral very fast.
The posture, which seemed purposefully inflated, increased conjecture on his health and sparked intense internet discussion.
As anticipated, the message was inundated with critical remarks from netizens. In his original response to the criticism, Akwaboah stated that he purposefully posted the picture to raise awareness of his impending song release.
However, as the criticism mounted, he made a video in which he addressed the matter more directly.
“Look at how I am trending, you people love negativity too much. You guys refused to talk about the positive ones, but look at how you spread this particular picture. You guys are witches,” Akwaboah stated.
He continued by emphasizing that the widely shared post was a publicity gimmick for his recently released single, Obinim.
“Ghanaians should wake up, my Obinim song will be released soon. I felt like it’s been a while since I heard from Ghanaians, so I decided to share an odd picture of myself and afterwards see the way I am trending,” he added.
