President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has indicated that, contrary to claims during the 2024 electioneering campaign that he was coming to destroy the Free SHS programme, he has rather strengthened it.
The president made this known when he met the press on September 10, 2025, at the seat of government.
According to him, he has proven his opponents wrong with his investments into the education policy that affords Ghanaians of all social standings the opportunity for senior high school education.
“Free SHS has not only been maintained but has also been strengthened,” he said.
