The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has expressed appreciation to members of the community youth who have begun returning parts of the military helicopter that crashed on August 6, 2025.

“Thanks to the community Youth. Significant parts of the craft and other belongings have been returned. Still expecting more by close of day,” Dr. Amoakohene shared in an update on Facebook.

A few days earlier, the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) revealed that some residents who arrived first at the crash site reportedly picked up parts of the helicopter and other belongings. In a statement, Dr. Amoakohene made a passionate appeal to the public:

“We are urging anyone in possession of any helicopter parts or belongings to hand them over without delay. These items can be returned to your Unit Committee, Assembly Member, Municipal or District Chief Executives, or any member of the investigating team present on the ground.”

The Minister stressed the importance of returning even the smallest items — from metals and screws to drives and circuit boards — as they may be crucial to the ongoing investigation.

To encourage cooperation, the council announced a cash reward for those who return any recovered items before the close of business on Monday, August 11, 2025

However, Dr. Amoakohene also issued a stern warning:

“After this date, anyone found holding onto such items will be considered a criminal and will face the full rigours of the law.”

The retrieval of the helicopter parts is expected to assist investigators in piecing together the exact cause of the crash, which claimed eight lives, including top government officials.
