“TRUST MAHAMA TO FIX GALAMSEY” – Comedian DKB Tells Anti-Galamsey Protest Organisers

Comedian DKB has called on organizers of the upcoming September 23 Anti-Galamsey protest to trust President John Mahama’s assurance that his administration is already addressing the illegal mining crisis.

In a video message shared on his Facebook page, the comedian urged activists to have faith in the president’s promises, suggesting that protests would be unnecessary given Mahama’s track record of solving national problems.

“Yo, this is my message to those who want to organise the Anti-Galamsey Demonstration. Listen, when JM, President Mahama, tells you he is working on something, he is really working on it. He’s not like the others,” DKB stated.

The comedian referenced Mahama’s handling of the previous dumsor crisis, noting how the president promptly addressed the power outages even after protests had been organized. He highlighted that the president had provided streetlights for demonstrators during the dumsor vigil, showing his commitment to both solving problems and respecting democratic expression.

“I remember the Dumsor video. He said he was working on the Dumsor. We thought he was playing, so we went to the demonstration. In the end, who solved Dumsor for us? This year, 9 months, not a single night or day of darkness,” DKB recounted.

While acknowledging the right to protest, the comedian expressed confidence that Mahama would handle the demonstration democratically, even humorously suggesting the president might provide sound systems and free water to protesters.

The comments come amid growing public concern about galamsey’s environmental impact and ahead of planned demonstrations demanding more decisive government action against illegal mining activities.
