The Ministry of Education has dismissed claims that the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Computerised School Placement System is for sale, following allegations circulating on social media.

A post attributed to one Gertrude Adzo Boklo alleged that placement into Aburi Girls’ Senior High School costs GHC 5,000.

Reacting to this, Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, said the Ministry has “initiated an immediate investigation into the matter,” describing the allegations as “a conspiratorial narrative to create the false impression that the BECE Computerized School Placement System is for sale.”

According to Dr. Apaak, attempts to reach the author of the post have been unsuccessful, as “her account messenger was deactivated shortly after the publication.”

He further revealed that other anonymous accounts have been spreading similar claims, warning that the Ministry is collaborating with the National Security, the Cyber Security Authority, and other agencies to track down those involved.

“The Ministry of Education wishes to state categorically that the BECE Computerized School Placement System is entirely free of charge. At no point is payment required to access this service,” Dr. Apaak stressed.

He urged the public to report any incidents of bribery attempts through dedicated hotlines, assuring that “swift and decisive action” will be taken against anyone found culpable.
