A book of condolence has been opened in memory of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, following her passing on Thursday, October 23, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.

The book has been placed at her residence in Accra, where family members, government officials, diplomats, political leaders, and members of the public have begun signing to pay tribute to her life and legacy. Dignitaries who have so far signed include former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

Mourners have been trooping to the residence to express their condolences and share fond memories of the late former First Lady, who was widely revered for her advocacy for women’s empowerment, social development, and nation-building.

Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, was Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady, having held the position across both the military and civilian administrations of her husband.

Her death has been described as a monumental loss to the nation, with tributes continuing to pour in from political leaders, civil society organisations, and citizens across the country.
