The truth will stand, Dame will be vindicated – Former Deputy AG

Former Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah Yeboah has described the allegations brought against former Attorney General Godfred Dame as baseless and politically motivated.

He made these remarks while speaking to reporters after Mr. Dame appeared before the Koforidua CID on Tuesday, following a petition filed against him.

Mr. Tuah Yeboah confirmed that they arrived at the CID headquarters shortly after 10 a.m. but had to wait for more than an hour before the interrogation began.

“As you know, the former AG was invited to a CID this morning. We got here around 10:05. We had to wait for over one and a half hours. Interrogation just started. He’s well composed. He’s ready to face the interrogators,” he said.

He firmly rejected the accusations, insisting that they were “trumped up” and intended to tarnish Mr. Dame’s image.

“At the end of the day, people are going to get to know that all these charges against him are trumped up ones. I mean, the former AG, in his office as the AG, discharged his duties with all diligence.

“I was his deputy, and I can state without any quotation that he has done nothing untoward to merit this kind of charge that has been brought against him. But at the end of the day, the truth will stand. The truth will stand. Godfred will be vindicated,” he declared.

Mr. Tuah Yeboah also suggested that the complaints were driven by personal motives rather than legitimate legal grounds.

“Purely political, and I think it’s also coming out of dislike for Godfred Dame. The complainant in this particular case, he knows deep down in his heart that this matter wouldn’t have arisen if he had not gone to see one or two relatives who God judged to speak to Godfred Dame. And so he knows that Dame is innocent, but he still wants to testify,” he said.

He stressed that Mr. Dame remains confident and prepared to defend himself. “We are ready for him. Godfred is ready for him. People are going to get to know the facts behind this,” he added.
