One person has been confirmed dead and another injured following an armed robbery attack on two small-scale miners, commonly known as galamseyers, at Aketekyieso in the Amansie Central District
According to reports, the two victims, believed to be brothers, were returning home from work when they were accosted by unknown armed men who attempted to rob them of their gold detector machine.
A struggle reportedly ensued, during which one of the victims fled the scene. The other was shot in the head and died on the spot. The fleeing victim was also shot while escaping and is currently receiving treatment at the Obuasi Government Hospital.
The deceased has been taken to the Jacobu Government Hospital morgue, after police retrieved the body from the scene.
