The Madina District Court has cleared Mr. Daniel Owusu Koranteng of all charges in connection with the 2019 murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale, bringing an end to years of legal uncertainty surrounding his involvement.
Presided over by Her Worship Susan D. Nyakote, the court’s decision followed a review and legal advice from the Office of the Attorney-General (A-G), which found insufficient evidence to sustain the charges of abetment and murder.
According to the A-G’s findings, the call records that allegedly linked Mr. Koranteng to the crime were inconclusive and failed to establish any direct or circumstantial connection to the murder.
The report further stated that none of the police sketches based on eyewitness accounts matched the accused.
The prosecution informed the court that it had been directed to refocus investigations on identifying the two gunmen who carried out the attack and remain at large six years after the killing.
Appearing in court in a white shirt, symbolising peace and vindication, Mr. Koranteng was accompanied by his lawyers, Emma-Jean Markin and Frederick Gurah Sampson.
