Wendy Shay credits God’s grace and strategy for her songs’ global reach across 50 countries

Award-winning Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has opened up about her international success, attributing her global recognition to a balance between hard work, strategy, and faith in God.

The award winning artiste reflected on how her songs have reached over 50 countries, topping charts across Africa and the Caribbean, including Togo, Benin, Sierra Leone, and Haiti.

“There’s a bigger hand that is doing all that,” she said on Hitz FM monitored by Lovinghananews.com.

“Music is wind, it moves freely, but you have to leave space for God. Even though you must be intentional with your craft, it’s God who breathes life into it.”

Wendy explained that her team deliberately created “Survivor” with a global audience in mind. “We added more English to the lyrics because I wanted the song to connect beyond Ghana,” she said.

She added that her strategy went beyond language: “We had influencers from other countries who helped push the song. We also did radio promos, DSP playlisting, and traditional promotions.”

Her remix collaborations with Gucci from Nigeria, Fina from Tanzania, and Beine from Haiti were also part of her deliberate effort to reach diverse markets.

“The song is really big in francophone countries, Togo, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and even in Haiti,” she said proudly.

Wendy Shay teased that she plans to visit Haiti and other countries where her music is trending before the year ends.
