The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has led a high-level delegation of senior officers from the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) New York Field Office — marking the first-ever official engagement between the leadership of the Ghana Police Service and senior executives of the FBI in the United States.

This historic visit forms part of a broader U.S. engagement aimed at deepening operational partnerships and sharing best practices between the Ghana Police Service and leading American law enforcement agencies.

During the meeting with Assistant Director-in-Charge Christopher Raia and his leadership team, discussions focused on strengthening joint efforts to address mutual U.S.–Ghana security priorities. Key areas included cyber-enabled fraud investigations, enhancing intelligence-led policing, advancing counterterrorism operations, and leveraging technology to detect and prevent crime.

The IGP reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to modern, technology-driven policing and international collaboration.

“Partnerships like this reaffirm our shared responsibility to protect our people,” Mr. Yohuno said. “The Ghana Police Service is committed to adopting advanced investigative tools and enhancing intelligence cooperation to prevent crime and ensure the safety and trust of our citizens.”

Assistant Director-in-Charge Christopher Raia praised the growing cooperation between the two institutions, highlighting recent successes in joint operations.

“Global partnerships such as the one between the FBI and the Ghana Police Service ensure that transnational criminals, including the recent cyber fraudsters extradited by the FBI New York Office to the Southern District of New York, are held accountable. These results are only possible through sustained international collaboration,” he stated.

The visit reaffirms both agencies’ shared commitment to information exchange, capacity building, and coordinated operations to address evolving transnational threats impacting both countries.
