The Ministry of Education has officially welcomed over 590,000 first-year students to Senior High Schools (SHSs) across the country as they begin the 2025/2026 academic year.

Students began reporting to their respective schools today, Saturday, 18th October, with others expected to report by Monday, 20th October 2025. The Ministry described the milestone as “a proud moment for students, families, and the nation as a whole.”

“We warmly congratulate all newly admitted SHS students and welcome them into the next exciting phase of their academic journey,” said Hashmin Mohammed, Press Secretary to the Minister for Education in a statement on October 18.

“This is a new chapter filled with opportunities to grow, learn, and shape a brighter future. We urge our young learners to approach this phase with discipline, focus, and a positive attitude.”

The Ministry also commended parents and guardians for their patience and cooperation throughout the school placement process. It further announced that the placement into schools and residential status for the 2025/2026 academic year is now officially closed.

“We deeply appreciate the understanding shown by families during the placement process. With placements finalized, we encourage all parents and guardians to proceed to their assigned schools to complete enrollment processes and support their wards as they settle in,” Mr. Mohammed added.

The Ministry emphasized its continued commitment to ensuring that every Ghanaian child has access to quality, equitable, and inclusive education. It assured the public that systems are in place for a smooth start to the new academic year across the country.

“Our priority remains to provide an environment that fosters learning and personal development for every student. We are working closely with stakeholders to ensure that the academic year begins successfully in all schools,” the statement concluded.

The Ministry congratulated all students once again and wished them success in their academic and personal development.
