We must win back youth, women, and entrepreneurs — Boakye Antwi

NPP’s Eugene Boakye Antwi has set his sights on revitalizing the New Patriotic Party’s connection with key voter groups, particularly the youth, women, and business community, who, he believes, turned away from the party during its final years in power.

The NPP General Secretary hopeful said his campaign was focused on strengthening grassroots structures and rebuilding trust among constituencies that felt neglected.

“I want a very united, very focused party determined to wrestle power from the NDC,” he said in an interview on Joy News monitored by Lovinghananews.com.

He acknowledged that the youth and women were critical to the party’s revival.

“The youth of this country will form about 70 percent of the voting population come 2028. Huge numbers. So a lot of attention ought to be given to that segment of the population,” he stated.

Boakye Antwi noted that many entrepreneurs and small business owners lost confidence in the party because of policies they felt stifled their enterprises.

“We must put their concerns on the table and subject policies to real discussion before they’re implemented,” he argued.

He also called for a more inclusive approach to decision-making, proposing that party conferences serve as policy forums rather than mere constitutional events.

“Party conferences should be where we debate time-tested policies before they go into the manifesto,” he said, citing how Britain’s Conservative and Labour parties use their conventions to shape policy direction.

Boakye Antwi’s broader message was clear: the NPP’s return to power would depend not on slogans, but on reconnecting with ordinary Ghanaians.

“Strategy alone cannot win elections unless the people it’s meant to support carry it with them,” he concluded.
