Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has expressed optimism about President John Dramani Mahama’s renewed commitment to accelerating development in the Western Region, particularly in the areas of health and infrastructure.

Sharing highlights of the president’s working visit to the region on his Facebook page, sighted by Lovinghananews.com, Armah-Kofi Buah described the trip as both hopeful and reassuring.

“I was privileged to join His Excellency John Dramani Mahama today on his working visit to the Western Region,” he wrote, emphasizing the president’s dedication to ensuring that the area receives “development commensurate with its immense contribution to the nation’s economy.”

He recounted that President Mahama inspected the long-abandoned site for the new Western Regional Hospital at Apemanim, a project that had stalled for years.

According to the MP, the president’s engagement at the site reignited optimism among residents.

“It was reassuring to hear his firm pledge that the NDC government will complete this critical hospital within 18 months,” Armah-Kofi Buah noted.

The president’s itinerary also included a visit to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, where he assessed the progress of ongoing works.

Armah-Kofi Buah said the move demonstrated Mahama’s determination to strengthen healthcare delivery in the region through both new projects and the completion of existing ones.

Highlighting another major milestone from the visit, the MP disclosed that President Mahama cut the sod for the dualisation of the Takoradi–Cape Coast Highway, a significant infrastructure project expected to redefine transportation in the western corridor.

“This transformative project is designed to boost connectivity, enhance road safety, and stimulate trade and economic activity along this vital corridor,” he stated.

Armah-Kofi Buah expressed confidence that these initiatives underscore the president’s broader vision of inclusive development.

He noted that the Western Region, as one of Ghana’s most resource-rich areas, deserves targeted investments to match its economic significance.

“The president reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the Western Region’s development reflects its vital role in Ghana’s growth story,” he added, calling on residents to support the government’s agenda for progress and sustainability.
