A Plus questions the moral authority of Abena Osei-Asare on the Public Accounts Committee

Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has slammed the leadership of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, questioning the moral authority of Abena Osei Asare to interrogate government appointees on accountability matters.

According to him, the committee cannot command public trust while chaired by someone who served at the heart of what he describes as one of Ghana’s most financially troubled administrations.

“The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament is currently led by a former deputy of Ken Ofori-Atta, Abena Osei Asare,” he stated in a post sighted by Lovinghananews.com.

“Let me go straight to the point, it lacks both credibility and moral authority for Abena Osei Asare to question anyone in this country. It doesn’t take law to realize this. It takes the fear of God.”

He argued that individuals who served in the previous government, which he accused of economic mismanagement and controversial contracts, should not be presiding over accountability hearings involving officials in President John Dramani Mahama’s one-year-old government.

“How can any serious nation permit this individual to question appointees of President John Dramani Mahama, who have been in office for less than a year,” he asked, “when she and her superior spent nearly a decade deliberately driving this country toward chaos?”

A Plus pointed to ongoing investigations into contracts signed under the leadership of her former boss, insisting that the ethical imbalance is too glaring to ignore.
“These are not mere whispers. These are active investigations,” he stressed.

“What ethical framework allows her to challenge others on accountability?”

He urged national leadership to uphold moral standards and called for reverence to God in public life.
