Veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr has praised former IGP George Akuffo Dampare for transforming policing in Ghana, introducing discipline and holding everyone accountable, including ministers and MPs.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Pratt said Dampare’s reforms strengthened public trust, though internal divisions emerged during his tenure.
On the current IGP, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Pratt noted a lack of defining achievements so far, describing his leadership as quiet.
He added that the recent two-year tenure extension by President Mahama could help ease succession tensions within the police service.
Pratt concluded that while Yohuno’s tenure is still unfolding, Dampare’s legacy remains a high benchmark for Ghanaian policing.
