Upper East Regional Minister Donatus Akamugri has appealed to stakeholders to help address indiscipline in various senior high schools in the region.

The Upper East Region has recorded several incidents of violence that have led to the closure of schools in the region.

The latest school to be closed down is the Bolgatanga Technical Institute, where some student clashes led to the destruction of the school’s library block, administration facilities, and other critical infrastructure.

To the minister, ensuring discipline in the various schools “requires the collective effort of religious leaders, traditional authorities, and all educational stakeholders.”

He indicated that currently, investigations are underway to determine the root causes of the BOTECH riots, as authorities seek to understand the underlying factors driving this concerning trend of student violence and indiscipline
