Ghanaian gospel musician Francis Amo has confirmed that he was arrested and briefly detained at the Accra Central Police Station following a copyright dispute involving the Church of Pentecost.

The arrest stems from a worship-style cover of the song Ne Din Ne Jesus, which the church claims ownership of. According to Amo, he recorded and released the cover after receiving written permission from a church elder.

He stated that the song was uploaded on April 15, 2026, but was taken down the following day upon instruction from the church.

On April 18, Amo said he was contacted by police regarding a criminal complaint of theft filed by the church. He was subsequently arrested and detained for several hours before being granted bail later that evening.

His legal team has since argued that the matter is civil in nature-relating to copyright—rather than a criminal case of theft.

Amo has been asked to report back to the police on April 21, 2026, to assist with ongoing investigations.
