Member of the Sports Committee in Parliament, Hon. Ekow Vincent Assafuah, has reminded the Sports Minister to make the budget for the Black Stars for the World Cup qualifying series public, just as he promised to do.

According to him, Ghanaians deserve openness and accountability in matters that involve public resources.

Therefore, the minister must do the needful to ensure accountability.

The former Deputy Local Government Minister recalled how the minister failed to disclose expenditure for the previous qualifiers, indicating that it will not be allowed to fester going forward

In a post shared via social media congratulating players who made the squad, the Old Tafo Member of Parliament said “Congratulations to our Black Stars players and the technical team on their call-up for the World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali. The nation stands firmly behind you as you carry our hopes on the international stage.

However, we must remind the President and the Minister of their promise to ensure transparency in football administration by making public the team’s budget and post-match expenditure. They failed to do so before and after the Madagascar and Chad games, and we cannot allow a repetition. Ghanaians deserve openness and accountability in matters that involve public resources.

Go Black Stars! We believe in you”.
