NPP is assured of victory if security is top-notch in Akwatia—Acquah Akwasi Alexander

Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, is confident that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will retain the Akwatia seat.

According to him, the party has worked hard in the constituency and have provided the people of the constituency reasons why they should maintain the New Patriotic Party’s candidate.

“One thing I know is that we’ve really gone on the ground; we have actually made the people who are going to vote in this election aware of why they should maintain the NPP candidate,” he said.

He acknowledged that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is counting on an incumbency advantage.

However, if the police are up to the task and there is no form of intimidation, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will carry the day.

On the huge number of police personnel in the constituency, he urged the police to use the few days until the election to educate the people and assure them that they are not in the constituency to intimidate them, but rather to protect them.

“One of the things that I am so concerned with is the huge presence of the police; it may not be too bad, but the police should be part of an effort to let the people know that they are here for peace. They have to educate the electorate and let the electorate feel safer with their presence.

They should not let the electorate feel that there is something going to happen; that is the reason they have come in their numbers. They have to let the electorates feel at home and let them come out to vote. If we have high voter turnout, we are going to carry the day,” he told Lovinghananews.com in an interview on the sidelines of Ernest Kumi’s one week observation.
