The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation has commenced reconstruction works with a bitumen finish on the deteriorated 14-kilometre Semaho–Pepesah road in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality.

The road, when completed, is expected to serve more than 10 farming communities in the area. However, residents remain cautious, noting that previous governments had initiated similar projects but failed to complete them.

For years, the road has remained in deplorable condition, serving Bepesah, Semaho, and several other farming communities within the mining enclave of the Western Region. After years of appeals and unfulfilled promises, the Foundation has cut sod to construct the road at GH¢63 million.

Speaking to Channel One TV on Friday, September 12, the Assembly Member for the area, Patrick Asmah, along with residents and motorists, recounted their daily struggles and expressed hope that this time the project would be completed.

The Executive Secretary of the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, Abdel Razak Yakubu, assured the public of the company’s commitment to completing the project within schedule, emphasising the resources being invested to make it possible.
