Judge Acquah is a canker on Ghana’s Judiciary – Martin Amidu

Former Attorney-General and Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, has launched a blistering attack on Circuit Court Judge Samuel Bright Acquah, describing him as a disgrace to both the legal profession and the Judicial Service of Ghana.

In an open letter sighted by Lovinghananews.com, Amidu questioned the judge’s fitness to have ever been called to the Bar.

“The question that immediately came to my mind was whether Judge Samuel Bright Acquah was a fit and proper person to have been enrolled on the Roll of Lawyers in Ghana in the first place.

“How could such a person have passed through the legal education system and been called to the Bar?” he asked.

According to Amidu, the judge’s ruling in The Republic v. Kwame Baffoe @ Abronye betrayed a lack of learning and integrity. He argued that even a law student would have written a better judgment on bail.

“A lay magistrate would not be expected to write such a ruling, let alone a professional magistrate, and much more a circuit court judge who has been on that bench for years,” Amidu charged.
